Date: Tue 3 November 2009 - FREE ENTRANCE
The Human Rights Action Centre, 17 - 25 New Inn Yard, London. EC2 3EA
In July the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) heard the first ever case of enforced disappearance to be brought against the government of Mexico.
The case was that of Rosendo Radilla Pacheco, a respected community leader who was forcibly disappeared by army soldiers in 1974 in Atoyac, Guerrero state.
Tita Radilla Martínez, Rosendo’s daughter, is a founding member of the Mexican Association of Relatives of the Detained, Disappeared and Victims of Human Rights Violations (AFADEM), which campaigns for justice for the families of people who disappeared during Mexico’s 'dirty war'.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Tita Radilla’s testimony and to show your support for the ongoing struggle for truth and justice in Mexico and the protection of human rights defenders worldwide.
The event will include a talk with:
Tita Radilla, Mexican Association of Family Members of the Detained and Disappeared (AFADEM)
Michael Tamblyn, coordinator of Peace Brigades International in Mexico
Rupert Knox, Mexico researcher, Amnesty International, International secretariat
The talk is preceded by a reading based on an interview with Tita Radilla, read by a member of Actors for Human Rights.
